How to Start Fresh with Your Ex

One of the really important keys to salvaging a relationships after tough times is starting over and forgetting the past. This is much easier said then done though since bad memories can linger for a long time.

The thing you want to remember is that you are in control of the present and future. Obviously references to “the bad times” are going to come up here and there. You want to be in a position to almost blow them off. Accept the blame and say something like “I sure was an idiot back then.” Make to reference it in the past tense of course!

Now when it comes to moving forward your best bet is to as far away from the past as possible. Talk only about current events, avoid your old hangouts, and focus on creating a new future for you both. All that stuff you used to say and do is now old and boring. This includes whatever gifts or flirting techniques you once used.

In order to gain the attraction back from your ex you will need to work hard at shifting their concentration from you to your surroundings. This sounds complicated but really it only involves one things – have fun! If you can keep a smile on his or her face when you are out on the town then you have done your job.

Some simple tips for increasing the fun level include going to concerts, dining at interactive places like Dave and Buster’s, and joining a coed sports league. All of these activities eliminate those awkward moments when no one knows what to say. If things start to go south you will instantly have something to redirect their attention.

Starting fresh will your ex is almost entirely up to you. If they want to forget about the past then you need to do just that. Consider it your lucky break, but don’t ignore the fact you will have to work hard to keep skeletons in the closet. The moment your ex gets bored is when all of your hard work can go down the toilet.
